Subject: Alder Creek Watershed Study and
Upper Strasburg Creek Subwatershed Plan Update
The Grand River Conservation Authority, in partnership with the City of Kitchener, the Region of
Waterloo, the Township of Wilmot and Oxford County, has completed a study to develop a
watershed management plan for Alder Creek and update the Strasburg Creek Master
Watershed Study.
The upper portions of these two watersheds are located contiguously in the central-westernmost
area of the City, west of Fischer-Hallman Road, and generally south of the Conestoga
Expressway /Ottawa Street South and Bleams Road and north of Huron Road on lands which
are currently undeveloped, but which are contained within the Region's City Urban Area.
The plan provides guidance for activities within the watershed, with the intended purpose of
maintaining and enhancing the health and quality of the natural resources.
Final reports are available at:

These studies will provide the natural resource basis for assigning urban land uses in this area
through an upcoming comprehensive stormwater management study, and (a) related
community /master plan(s) and Official Plan Amendment(s) to be undertaken by the City of
Kitchener.
