Evans, Director of Revenue (Ext. 2895) All November 18, 2008 FI N-08-163 Applications for Cancellation, Refund, Reduction or Levy of Taxes November 24 Hearing RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that, pursuant to Section #357 of The Municipal Act, S.D. 2001, applications to City Council for Cancellation, Reduction, refund or levy of taxes, Council approve the forty six applications, totalling $217,438.42 in the report attached to FIN-08-163. BACKGROUND: Forty Six applications for adjustment of taxes under Section #357 of The Municipal Act, S.D. 2001 were processed, resulting in a net reduction of taxes in the amount of $217,438.42. The required notices to the affected parties were sent out in accordance with the relevant legislation. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The tax reductions are shared with the Regional Municipality of Waterloo and the School Boards. The net effect to the City of Kitchener amounts to $46,832.16 in tax levy and $147.10 in Business Improvement area levy to be reduced. Joyce V.
