APPOINTMENT OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE CITIZENS
FOR BETTER GOVERNMENT MEETING
RECOMMENDATION:
That Mayor C. Zehr and Councillors and
be appointed as representatives of the City of Kitchener at the
meeting scheduled for December 4, 2008 regarding the report Citizens for Better
Government, dated September, 2008.
BACKGROUND:
On October 6,2008, City Council adopted the following resolution:
"That the Mayor of Kitchener contact the Mayors of the other local municipalities and the
Regional Chair to plan an informal working group meeting to discuss the recently
released report from Citizens for Better Government (CFBG); and further,
That such working group consist of two or three members from each local municipality,
one of whom shall be the Mayor, along with the Regional Chair, in order to have
preliminary discussions and preparations which would lead to an all-councils meeting to
determine possible future actions stemming from the CFBG's final report
recommendations. "
REPORT:
Mayor C. Zehr has discussed with area Mayors and the Regional Chair the idea of holding a
meeting with representatives from each of the area municipalities and Regional council to
determine if there is interest from the municipalities to further discuss the report from the
Citizens for Better Government, dated September, 2008. There has been agreement to meet on
December 4, 2008 in the Subscriber's Lounge in the Memorial Auditorium, Kitchener. The
meeting will be a public meeting and notice has been circulated to the press, advertised in The
Record and posted on the web site.
Council is requested to appoint two councillors to represent the City along with the Mayor, in
accordance with the resolution adopted October 6, 2008.
