Subject: City of Kitchener Response to "Reduce The Juice"
RECOMMENDATION:
1. That the City of Kitchener support the 2008 initiatives of Reduce the Juice; and
2. That the City of Kitchener allow the use of its corporate logo on promotion
materials for the Reduce the Juice initiative provided it is given a proof of the
material in advance of publication to ensure its corporate logo standards are

3. That in-kind support be provided in the form of information on related City of
Kitchener projects as listed in Report DTS-08-095.
BACKGROUND:
At the May 20 2008 Council meeting a presentation was made by the Reduce the Juice
Foundation. The delegation asked the City for the following:
• Endorsement of their 2008 project based in the City of Waterloo;
• Permission to use the City of Kitchener logo on promotional materials;
• In-kind support in the form of training and information on existing Kitchener programs
that address air quality, climate change and transportation.
Council requested that staff prepare a report for the May 26 meeting.
REPORT:
Endorsement of the 2008 "Reduce the Juice" project
The project is outlined in the attached letter dated May 12 2008. Its objective of building
awareness and reducing personal greenhouse gas emissions are very much in line with a wide
range of City projects and initiatives. Staff recommends endorsement.
Use of City of Kitchener Logo
The project organizers have requested permission to utilize the City's corporate logo on their
promotional materials. Given that the City supports the objectives of the Reduce the Juice
initiative, staff recommend that permission be granted under the condition that a proof of the
material is provided to the Director of Corporate Communications and Marketing in advance of
publication to ensure the City's corporate logo standards are followed.
