Subject: P09-003 -Chain Link Fencing, Silt Fencing & Related Accessories
RECOMMENDATION
That proposal P09-003, Chain Link Fencing, Silt Fencing & Related Accessories, be awarded to
1077860 Ontario Inc. ola Town & Country Fencing, Ariss, Ontario, at their unit prices for one ~1 }
year, with an option to renew for two ~2) additional one-year terms. The estimated value of this
contract is approximately $100,000. per year, plus G.S.T.
BACKGROUND
The Community Services Department requires a variety of fencing types to be supplied and
installed in various forms throughout the City each year. From fencing that delineates property
boundaries to all types of sports field chain link fencing to environmental silt control and tree
protection fencing, the City requires the services of a contractor that specializes in this work and
provides efficient and cost effective service throughout the year at a large number of different
work locations across Kitchener. The City does not have the staff resources or specialized
equipment for this type of volume work to be executed on a regular basis by City of Kitchener
forces.
REPORT
Proposals were requested from seven ~7) potential bidders, as well as being advertised publicly
in the Record, the City of Kitchener website and on the Internet through the Ontario Public
Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. By the proposal closing date of Friday,
January 23, 2009, two ~2} bids had been received.
The following proposals were received:

Jay Fencing Ltd. Waterloo, ON
The proposals were reviewed by T. O'Brien, Landscape Architect, W. Sleeth, Landscape
Architect, and R. Kruppa, Buyer, who concur with the above recommendation.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
Funding to be provided from various capital and operating accounts.
