Zehr and Members of Council March 3, 2009 Tracey Hare Connell Lesley Bansen March 2, 2009 CAO-09-013 Subject: Kitchener Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 457 RECOMMENDATION: That the terms and conditions contained in a Memorandum of Settlement dated February 11, 2009, in connection with the 2009-2011 Collective Agreement with Kitchener Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 457, be approved; and further, That the Mayor and Clerk be authorised to execute any documentation arising there from. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Following several rounds of negotiating, Teams representing the Kitchener Professional Fire Fighters Association (KPFFA) and the Corporation arrived at a tentative agreement for a new contract. KPFFA Employees ratified the Memorandum of Settlement on Monday, March 2, 2009. The essential items of change are as follows: • Three (3)Year Collective Agreement -January 1, 2009 -December 31, 2011 • Wages: Effective January 1, 2009 3.3010 across the board Effective January 1, 2010 2.9°10 across the board Effective January 1, 2011 2.9°10 across the board • Benefit Improvements staged to come in over the life of the Contract Massage from $300/year to $700/year Physiotherapy from $300/year to $600/year Chiropractic from $300/year to $600/year Vision Care from $375124 months to $450124 months LTD 70°10 of base wages from $5,000/month maximum to $6,000/month maximum • Effective January 1, 2010 implementation of a 24 hour shift to run for three (3) years In addition, there were market adjustments to Civilian Communication Operators and Civilian Alarm Technician Rates and performance progressions for civilian personnel, together with premium improvements for standby, all of which are staged to come into effect during the life of the three (3) year Collective Agreement. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: All monetary items in this settlement package have been costed and the total increase is within the guidelines established by Council.
