Doherty Arena to the new Kingsdale Community Centre. BACKGROUND The contractor prequalification process will provide the City with an opportunity to examine the contractor's project history and their experience in the performance of projects of similar magnitude and size. The reference checks facilitate the best indication as to the satisfaction of owners on previous projects. The prequalification process results in a selection process that takes into consideration quality, innovation, time and costs and results in a greater probability of a successful conclusion to a project. Our limited experience with LEED has taught us that contractors who have not been thoroughly indoctrinated in the process perform poorly for Owners who have committed to implement LEED. Prequalificationtyill allow us to verify their LEED successes and to identify potential issues. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS There are no financial implications to the prequalification process.
