HomeMy WebLinkAboutDTS-09-041 - Transfer of Funds for Roads Surface Asphalt Placement1 k~R Development & Technical Services REPORT Report To: Financial & Corporate Services Committee Date of Meeting: March 30, 2009 Submitted By: Grant Murphy, Director, Engineering Services Prepared By: Jim Oakley, Manager, Engineering Construction(741-2412) Ward(s) Involved: All Date of Report: March 6, 2009 Report No.: DTS 09-041 Subject: TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM CAPITAL UNCOMMITTED INFRASTRUCTURE ACCOUNT FOR ROAD SUFACE ASPHALT PLACEMENT RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the transfer of $300,000 from the Capital Uncommitted Infrastructure Account #59500194 to four (4) specific Accelerated Infrastructure Project Accounts as follows; #56000163 - $10,000, #56000161 - $20,000, #56000184 - $180,000, #56000190 - $90,000. BACKGROUND: As part of the accelerated infrastructure program the surface asphalt on road reconstruction projects is scheduled for placement at the end of the two year maintenance period. This is done so that any rectification work can be completed within these two years and further this procedure prevents visible asphalt patches in the final asphalt roadway surface. There are four (4) reconstruction projects that require funds to be transferred from the uncommitted account to complete the cost of the placement of surface asphalt scheduled as part of the 2009 Annual Roads Resurfacing Program. REPORT: In order to complete the surface asphalt placement as scheduled for 2009, it will be necessary to increase the funding on the following accelerated infrastructure reconstruction projects: Ahrens/Ellen/Hermie Joseph/Francis/Gaukel/Richmond/VPE EmmalMoore/Briar Strange/Elm FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Account Project Balance Est. CONCLUSION: The transfer of the requested amounts from the Capital Uncommitted Infrastructure Account will allow completion of the surface asphalt placement on the abovementioned projects in 2009 as scheduled.
