Gosse, Director of Legislated Services/City Clerk PREPARED BY: Patricia Harris, Manager of Licensing WARD(S) INVOLVED: 4 DATE OF REPORT: April 9, 2009 REPORT NO.: CRPS-09-043 SUBJECT: REQUEST TO HOLD A FAMILY CARNIVAL -COUNTRY HILLS OPTIMIST CLUB -MAY 27, 2009 AT COUNTRY HILLS COMMUNITY CENTRE - 100 RITTENHOUSE ROAD RECOMMENDATION: That the request of the Country Hills Optimist Club to sell refreshments at 100 Rittenhouse Road on May 27, 2009 be approved, provided the necessary licence including Health approval is obtained. BACKGROUND: Council policy requires Council's approval prior to a licence being issued to allow sales of refreshments to take place on City property. REPORT: A request has been received from Rose Kubesheski, President/Secretary, Country Hills Optimist Club, requesting permission to sell refreshments at its Neighbourhood Family Carnival Event to take place on May 27, 2009 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All proceeds raised will go towards the youth programs in the community. Box 1118 2"a Floor City Hall Kitchener, ON N2G 4G7 Dear Ms. Harris: Re: Permission for Neighbourhood Festival Licence I am writing on behalf of the Country Hills Optimist Club to request approval for offering a Neighbourhood Family Carnival event. The event would take place in the parking lot at the Country Hills Community Centre located at 100 Rittenhouse Road in Kitchener on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The event would be free of charge and would include games, train rides, face painting, bouncy castle and possibly pony rides. There will also be a BBQ that people can get hotdogs and a drink fora $2.00 donation. The Country Hills Optimist Club is anon-profit group. Any money collected for donations will go towards the many events and contributions that the Optimists give to the youth in the community. Some examples are the Children's Cancer Foundation, spelling bees, Waterloo Region ambulance bear program, free skating and many more.
