Follow-up report to the Joint Accessibility Plan 2009 report (CSD- 09-001). BACKGROUND: On January 5, 2009 at Finance and Corporate Services Committee staff presented the 2009 Joint Accessibility Plan. The Plan was approved in principle with the request that staff return with a financial report pertaining to the activities funded by the Corporate Accessibility Fund for years 2007 and 2008, including predictions for 2009 and 2010. The Corporate Accessibility Fund was created to respond to corporate wide accessibility initiatives and issues as per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Under the AODA, the province is in the process of regulating five (5) Standards. These include Customer Service (compliance required by January 1, 2010), Transportation, Information & Communication, Built Environment and Employment. REPORT: On September 26, 2005, Council approved that a Capital Budget be established to fund corporate projects that will remove barriers to accessibility for persons with disabilities and allocated $100,000 per year for the years 2006-2011. Since that approval, the Corporate Accessibility Steering Group was appointed. As part of their mandate under the approved Terms of Reference, this Group has reviewed and approved proposals for funding under this Fund. Attached to the Community Services Department report CSD 09-025 as Appendix A is the financial summary for this fund, as of February 20, 2009. IF1-1 FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Not applicable.
