EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) - CHERRY PARK
NEIGHBOURHOOD ASSOCIATION
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to
the Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association for a series of movie nights in Cherry Park on June
12, July 11 and August 7, 2009, and in King Edward Field on June 26, July 24 and August 21,
2009, from 8:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. each evening.
BACKGROUND:
As part of its community building strategy, the Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association is
planning to hold a series of family movie nights throughout the summer in Cherry Park and King
Edward Field. Although, it is difficult at this time to gauge the potential noise impact, if any, the
Association wants to safeguard the event and apply for an exemption to the City’s Noise By-law.
REPORT:
This neighbourhood initiative is new this year. It has community support and the association will
inform adjacent property owners of the event times.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None identified.

COMMUNICATIONS:
No Corporate Communications required. The Association will be informing area residents of teh
event times.
CONCLUSION:
Based on the circumstances surrounding these events, the By-law Enforcement Division does
not object to this request for an exemption.
