APPEAL - REFRESHMENT VEHICLE LOCATION - 33
MANITOU DRIVE
RECOMMENDATION:
The Committee’s direction is requested.
BACKGROUND:
Chapter 586 (Refreshment Vehicles) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code requires a 200
metre distance separation between a Refreshment Vehicle and a Place of Refreshment and a
400 metre distance separation between two Refreshment Vehicles. This requirement is for both
new and renewal applications.
REPORT:
A request has been received from Sarah McIntosh who wishes to operate a refreshment vehicle
at 33 Manitou Drive. Ms. McIntosh is requesting an appeal of the Manager of Licensing’s
decision not to issue a licence for the operation of a hot dog cart at 33 Manitou Drive. Ms.
McIntosh has received permission from the owner of the property.
There are currently 6 Places of Refreshment located within the distance separation. The
owners of the affected businesses have been notified and the Manager of Licensing has
received one objection.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None
COMMUNICATIONS:
The owners of all Places of Refreshment that are within the distance separation have been
notified of the request.
