HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRPS-09-107 - Exemption to Chapter 450 Noise - Doon Pioneer Park Community Association REPORT REPORT TO: Finance and Corporate Services Committee DATE OF MEETING: August 10, 2009 SUBMITTED BY: Troy Speck, General Manager of Corporate Services PREPARED BY: Shayne Turner, Director of By-law Enforcement WARD(S) INVOLVED: Fairview-Gateway DATE OF REPORT: July 30, 2009 REPORT NO.: CRPS-09-107 SUBJECT: EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) - DOON PIONEER PARK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION RECOMMENDATION: That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to the Doon Pioneer Park Community Association for their annual outdoor concert and festival to be held on September 26, 2009, between the hours of 2:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.. BACKGROUND: The Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre is holding their third annual outdoor concert and festival on September 26, 2009, between the hours of 2:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.. The event will be held completely on the grounds of the Community Centre. There will be some live music being played outdoors during the event. As such, they have requested an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code. REPORT: This event has been held in the previous 2 years and the By-law Enforcement Division is not aware of any noise complaints being received with regard to the event. The Community Centre will ensure that all of the surrounding neighbourhood is advised and invited to the event. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None identified at this time. é ó ï COMMUNICATIONS: No Corporate Communications required. CONCLUSION: Based on the circumstances surrounding this event, the By-law Enforcement Division does not object to this request for an exemption.
