SUBJECT:
EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) - WYANDOTTE
WARRIORS, WYANDOTTE COURT
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to
the Wyandotte Warriors for a street party on Wyandotte Court on August 15, 2009, between the
hours of 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
BACKGROUND:
The Wyandotte Warriors is a group of residents who reside on Wyandotte Court. This group
has held a street party on the court for the past 3 years, as part of the Festival of
Neighbourhoods. The event includes a street sale, kids games, a road hockey game, a
barbecue, some outdoor music and a children’s movie. The group has decided to apply for a
noise by-law exemption this year in the event that a noise complaint is received.
REPORT:
Last year, 1 noise complaint was received regarding this annual event. The group is
undertaking to inform the area residents of the event in an effort to mitigate any such complaint
this year. Staff do not have a record of complaints registered with the event in the previous 2
years.

CONCLUSION:
Based on the circumstances surrounding this annual request, the By-law Enforcement Division
does not object to this request for an exemption.
