SUBJECT: EXEMPTION TO CHAPTER 450 (NOISE) - WESTMOUNT
NEIGHBOURHOOD ASSOCIATION
RECOMMENDATION:
That an exemption to Chapter 450 (Noise) of the City of Kitchener Municipal Code be granted to
the Westmount Neighbourhood Association for their neighbourhood party to be held in Argyle
Park on Saturday September 12, 2009, between the hours of 3:30 P.M. and 6:30 P.M., with a
rain date of Sunday September 13, 2009.
BACKGROUND:
The Westmount Neighbourhood Association is planning to hold a neighbourhood party in Argyle
Park on Saturday September 12t", with a rain date of Saturday September 13t". The event will
involve a silent auction, kid's activities and the use of a microphone and speakers for limited
periods of time. As such, the association is requesting an exemption from Chapter 450 (Noise).
REPORT:
Given the nature of the event and the time period involved, no significant noise concerns are
foreseen. The association has already notified the adjacent neighbourhood of the event and will
be circulating a reminder closer to the event date.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
None identified.

CONCLUSION:
Based on the circumstances surrounding this event, the By-law Enforcement Division has no
objection to this request.
