HomeMy WebLinkAboutCouncil Minutes - 2003-03-24 S SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES MARCH 24, 2003 CITY OF KITCHENER A special meeting of City Council was held at 5:30 p.m. this date, Chaired by Mayor C. 7ehr with all members present. Notice of this special meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code. Council was in receipt of Corporate Services Department report CRPS-03-056 (L. MacDonald), dated March 19, 2003, recommending approval of the sale of surplus property known as 520 Franklin Street North. Moved by Councillor B. Vrbanovic Seconded by Councillor C. Weylie "That the Corporation of the City of Kitchener accepts the Offer from Habitat for Humanity Waterloo Region Inc. to purchase surplus City property known as 520 Franklin Street North, Kitchener and legally described as Lot 1, Plan 1152, save and except Part 5, Plan 58R-3942 and subject to combined easement in favour of Bell Telephone Company of Canada and the Public Utilities Commission of the City of Kitchener, having an area of about 6,924 square feet. The purchase price is $21,500.00; and further, That the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to execute any necessary documentation required by the City Solicitor." Carried. Council was in receipt of correspondence from T. Arnott, MPP, Waterloo-Wellington, dated March 19, 2003, requesting the appointment of a City representative to attend a possible meeting with the Minister of Transportation to discuss the Waterloo-Wellington Transportation Action Plan. Moved by Councillor G. Lorentz Seconded by Councillor J. Smola "That appointment of a City representative to attend a meeting with the Minister of Transportation to discuss the Waterloo-Wellington Transportation Action Plan be delegated to J. Fielding, Chief Administrative Officer." Moved by Councillor M. Galloway Seconded by Councillor B. Vrbanovic Carried. "That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held immediately following this special meeting to consider a personal matter and five matters subject to solicitor-client privilege." Carried. Moved by Councillor J. Gazzola Seconded by Councillor J. Smola "That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be finally passed and numbered 2003-53 by the Clerk." Carried. On motion, the meeting adjourned at 5:32 p.m. MAYOR CLERK
