BACKGROUND: The City of Kitchener has identified the need to retrofit the Krizsanderson Stormwater Management Facility due to extensive urban development and redevelopment that has occurred subsequent to the completion of the original Krizsanderson Subdivision which it was originally designed to serve. The stormwater management facility is located on the north side of Pioneer Tower Road, west of King Street East. The current stormwater management facility provides a `Normal' level of water quality control for 21.4 ha of urban development, while receiving drainage from 54.16 ha of developed lands. The existing stormwater management facility has also been designed to provide erosion and flood control, based on specific storm frequency release rates, as identified as part of the 1996 Krizsanderson and Maple Manor Subdivisions, Watercourse Analysis by Paragon Engineering. This retrofit will make the facility provide `Normal' level of water quality control for the additional 32.76 ha of urban development. REPORT: Tenders were advertised publicly in The Record, The Daily Commercial News, on the City of Kitchener website and the Internet through the Ontario Public Buyers Electronic Tendering Information System. Sixteen (16) potential bidders picked up tender documents, and by the closing date of Thursday September 3rd, 2009, three (3) tenders had been received. The tenders were reviewed by S. Chipps, AMEC Earth & Environmental, the City's Consultants for the project, and N. Gollan, Supervisor, Development Client Services -Engineering, who concur with the above recommendation. The following tenders were received: Alcam Excavating LTD, Brampton ON $735,142.07 Brantford Engineeringand Construction LTD.
