SPECIAL COUNCIL MINUTES
JANUARY 11, 2010 CITY OF KITCHENER
A special meeting of City Council was held at 6:09 p.m. this date, chaired by Mayor C. Zehr with all
members present.
Notice of this meeting had been previously given to all members of Council by the City Clerk pursuant
to Chapter 25 (Council Procedure) of the Municipal Code.
Council considered a matter arising from the Finance and Corporate Services Committee meeting
held this date concerning applications to the Federal Community Adjustment Fund Intake 2.
Moved by Councillor J. Smola
Seconded by Councillor B. Vrbanovic
“That consideration of submitting an application to the Federal Community Adjustment Fund
be deferred to a
Intake 2 regarding the proposed renovation of 48 Ontario Street ($3.0 million)
Special Council meeting to be held prior to noon on January 18, 2010
, to allow time for
staff to provide additional information; and,
That staff be directed to submit applications for the following two projects, in order of priority,
for consideration under the Federal Community Adjustment Fund Intake 2:
1. Redevelopment of Woodside Park ($1.6 million);
2. King Street Master Plan and Civic Square Renovation ($0.75 million); and,
That for projects approved under the Federal Community Adjustment Fund, the City of
Kitchener fund at least 10% of the total eligible project costs; and further,
That the General Manager of Financial Services be authorized to sign the applications for
these projects.”

Seconded by Councillor G. Lorentz
“That an in-camera meeting of City Council be held this date to consider a labour relations
matter.”
Carried.
Moved by Councillor K. Galloway
Seconded by Councillor C. Weylie
“That leave be given the Mover and Seconder to introduce a by-law to confirm all actions and
proceedings of the Council and that the same be taken as read a first, second and third times, be
finally passed and numbered 2010-001 by the Clerk.”
Carried.
On motion the meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m.
