o
assistance (like the MCC?)
Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network (WRIEN):
Not for profit organization, supported by Chamber of Commerce, the Region, and the
o
Province
Could MT Space, Neruda, MCC, Multicultural Centre and WRIEN collaborate to meet

5.0Youth Arts Strategy:
Do we need a Youth Arts Strategy?
?
Need to work with youth to find out what they need in terms of the arts.
?
Ask KYAC members for their views.
?
How to reach the youth not in school? Facebook, Twitter, social networking…
?
Schools are insular, Kitchener Youth Arts Council (KYAC) students mentioned that they want
?
to raise awareness of programs, get word out about their arts activities
Our terms of reference call for a youth member. We have to wait until new term
?
Include private school population (Rockway, Woodland, St. John’s).
?
ACTION: ACAC members to be invited by email to attend a Kitchener Youth Action Council
meeting with Councillor Galloway (involved in KYAC)
Collaborating with other committees
Cheryl York met with Silvia DiDonato (DAC (Downtown Advisory Committee) and EDAC
o

6.0Subcommittee on Arts/Media update
Subcommittee brought 11 questions to ACAC for consideration. These questions will go to
?
media types at pre-meeting with sub committee in late January
Susan Cudahy from Waterloo Regional Tourism and Marketing Corporation (WRTMC) knows
?
media folks, and will set up the pre-meeting with media reps
At pre-meeting, will assess if we should plan an info session for arts community about how
?
arts organizations can best communicate with the media
There will be another “Arts, Business, Creativity” workshop in 2010. This could be an
?
appropriate arena for a “roundtable” with the arts community, and to disseminate
information. Media handbook could be launched there.
ACTION: subcommittee to report back to ACAC in February 2010
