SUBJECT: E10-005 -Consultant Services -Kitchener Memorial Auditorium &
Lyle Hallman Pool Accessibility Renovations
RECOMMENDATION:
That Expression of Interest E10-005, Consultant Services -Kitchener Memorial Auditorium &
Lyle Hallman Pool Accessibility Renovations, be awarded to John MacDonald Architect inc.,
Kitchener at their estimated fee of $24,860., plus disbursements and G.S.T. of $1,243., for a
total of $26,103.
BACKGROUND:
Accessibility improvements are currently being funded through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.
Both the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium and Lyle Hallman Pool facilities were identified as
being in need of accessibility upgrades through the Harrington report. In January of this year,
Expression of Interest E10-005 was sent out to five architectural firms in search of consulting
services related to the design and implementation of these improvements. Three expressions
of interest were received by the closing date of noon Friday January 22nd, 2010 and after a
thorough review by our Consultant Services Committee, it was determined that the contract for
this work should be awarded to John MacDonald Architect inc. of Kitchener.
REPORT:
In accordance with Chapter 170 of the Municipal Code pertaining to the Selection of
Professional Services/Consultants, a Consultant's Review Committee was established
consisting of C. Waller, Manager of Building, M. Petricevic, Manager Projects/Energy
Management, K. Kugler, Interim Director of Enterprise, D. Hergott, Manager of Facilities
Management, and L. Gordon, Director of Supply Services.
Expressions of interest were requested from five (5) known Consultants relative to this project.
and by the closing date of Friday January 22nd, 2010, three (3) responses had been received.
The Review Committee met on Wednesday January 27th, 2010 to review the submissions and
elected to award the project to J. MacDonald Architect inc., Kitchener.
