HomeMy WebLinkAboutFIN-10-030 - Prequalification for Building Automation Systems REPORT REPORT TO: Mayor Carl Zehr & Members of Council DATE OF MEETING: 2010-03-08 SUBMITTED BY: Larry Gordon, Director of Supply Services PREPARED BY: Larry Gordon, Director of Supply Services (2214) WARD(S) INVOLVED: N/A DATE OF REPORT: 2010-03-03 REPORT NO: FIN 10-030 SUBJECT: Prequalification for Building Automation Systems RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve a request from Facilities Management to proceed with a prequalification process to select up to three (3) Building Automation Systems to be used for future installations in all City of Kitchener facilities. BACKGROUND: The prequalification process will provide the City with an opportunity to examine the capabilities of the various systems currently available on the market and identify which systems meet the City of Kitchener's requirements for indoor climate control and energy management. Currently, there are eighteen City facilities with existing building automation systems which vary greatly in their accessibility and user 'friendliness'. Our intent is to find a system or systems that will enhance operability and provide a certain level of 'standardization' for our future building controls systems. Standardization of these systems will enable our building operators to fully utilize the systems capabilities for energy management purposes and for climate control of our interior spaces as their experience with and knowledge of the system(s) increases. Future buildings to benefit from this process include the CMF, Sportsworld and City Hall. REPORT: N/A FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: There are no financial implications to the prequalification process.
